With the official Indian market introduction of the Nano mini car, Tata have launched their advertising and online campaign.

As it needs to reach many million customers across India, some of which have not owned a car before, the campaign is centered around being informative and offers a lot of opportunities for consumer feedback. It is focused around the “useability” of the Nano in everyday Indian life, wether it is fitting a big family inside the car without any compromises or safety aspects.

Noteworthy is the fact that Tata intelligently combines other sectors of their business with this launch. On the website you can book a car directly linked to different banking schemes from the biggest Indian banks (incl. Tata owned ones). Furthermore you can purchase or win a Tata Indicom NANO mobile phone (with phone scheme) and buy a Titan (Tata Watch company) NANO watch.

It is going to be interesting to see how this campaign evolves and how Indian consumers will react to it.

BMW US: Rampenfest – BMW 1-series Viral campaign*

27 06 2008

Now here is what I call a really funny viral campaign (maybe because I live in Germany ;o)….

Some of you might already know this one, but for those who don’t…for the introduction of the BMW 1-series in North America, BMW US have created a fully integrated viral campaign.

The story line is really funny. The little (fake) Bavarian town Oberpfaffelnbachen is building a 454 meter-high ramp that will launch the BMW 135i over the European landscape and across the Atlantic into the US. To have the world participate Jeff Schultz (fake) documentary filmmaker produced a 30 min film (www.rampenfest.com).

Here is the trailer…

Video: Rampenfest Trailer – 1:40 min

The campaign is integrated across a number of channels beginning with the official Rampenfest Film Website, the offical Oberpfaffelbachen town website that feat. the MISS RAMPENFEST Competition, Jeff Schultz’s Facebook site (with approx 800 friends) and his blog.

Also worth seeing are Jeff’s Youtube page and the Friendster page of Franz Brendl the Oberpfaffelbachen town’s council.

HUMMER UK: H3 The ultimate boy’s toy*

5 04 2008

Here is a really cool Guerilla PR Stunt. HUMMER UK have launched the first right hand drive version of the H3. To do so they created a giant – like no other – toy box and placed it infront of a TOYS R US store.

To further promote the all terrain functionality of the H3, Hummer UK decided to build a remote controlled version of the real car and have people test it for real…pretty cool!

Adidas: New Originals Campaign*

10 03 2008

snapz-pro-xschnappschuss001.jpg

adidas have launched a new set of online, print and tv related campaign elements for their 2008 collection of ORIGINALS clothing. Things kicked off with a fully “animated” ad by 180 Amsterdam featuring Adi Dassler the founder of adidas (see below).

Here is the official release:

adidas is launching its first global campaign for Adidas Originals lifestyle brand. Developed by 180, the campaign rallies round a series of web videos of people from art, music and athletics. The first effort, which launches this week, spotlights Adidas’ founder, Adi Dassler, in his workshop in Germany. This is also the first time in the company’s 60-year history that its founder has been brought to the fore in adidas advertising.

The campaign is supported by print, TV, in-cinema and web ads leading consumers to the microsite within adidas.com. Pierre Wendling, 180’s digital director, explains that the agency didn’t employ digital animation to resurrect Dassler. Rather, Wendling and his team recreated Dassler’s office in miniature, down to scale model versions of his desk, furniture, tools, and accessories, with ambient street sounds, and radio playing songs of the day in the background.

The originals tend to have a retro feel. The logo is not the three-stripe symbol for adidas Performance, but the adidas trefoil logo introduced in 1971.

He adds that the first of five films won’t be product-focused, while the rest will, each touting the new Originals apparel line. One of the forthcoming films in the series, “Sounds of the City,” will tout a range of Adidas Originals product while highlighting reggae from Jamaica; the Motown sound; Memphis, and New Orleans. Each film ends with the Adidas trefoil transforming into a video sphere on which films about the featured artists and athletes are arrayed, with the “Celebrate Originality” theme

Here are some of the campaign elements…

1. Adi Dassler

3. adidas Originals “Games”

Finally this ad I found today…dunno how it fits in but I think it is really cool!

Fast Food Promotions: Big ‘n’ Juicy & Whopper Freak Out*

31 12 2007

ad_burger_king_ronald_01.jpg

Here are two really cool campaigns from our favorite fast food joints.

Mc Donalds Sweden: Big ‘n’ Juicy Promotion:

To promote their special “Big ‘n’ Juicy Burger Mc Donalds Sweden came up with a great out of home executions.

A poster frame that actually is a gigantic serviette dispenser

mcdonalds_big_1.jpg

The coinciding print execution is also pretty funny. Similar to the dispenser idea the’ve inserted pages made from the original serviette material into the center spread of major daily newspapers.

Burger King US: Whopper Freak Out

Burger King US have recently launched the “Whopper Freak Out” campaign. The basic purpose was to re-iterate the positioning of the Whopper as the ultimate US burger.

The creative is a pretty funny 30 sec TV ad and a 7 minute webspecial that capture the action in a Las Vegas Burger King restaurant, where customers where filmed while the staff explains to them that from this day on Burger King decided to discontinue the Whopper.

I really like the two guys infron of the store that comment that “Burger King without the Whopper should be called Burger Queen” ;o)
